I am interested in investigating patterns of species distribution and diversification of snakes and other herpetofauna. In my doctoral research, I am trying to understand the morphological and genetic relationships between different taxa of snakes distributed in the Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats, central India and North East India using molecular, morphological and environmental variables. Also, attempting to understand how such relationships are correlated with temporal patterns of geography, ecology and environmental events. During my Master of Zoology (specialization-Entomology) at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, I carried out a project titled “Effect of plant growth hormone indole-3- acetic acid on economic traits of eri-silk worm Samia cinthia ricini Boisd”. For my M.Phil (specialization-Developmental Biology and Taxonomy) at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, I carried out a research project titled “Morphological and Morphometric variation in two species ofsnakesGenusXenochrophis (Colubridae)”. I worked as Research Fellow in the “Sea Turtle Research Project” of Forest Department (Wildlife Wing) of Orissa. I carried out a survey in coastal areas of Orissa to examine the effect of fishing and predation pressure on the Olive ridley nesting sites, under the guidance of Professor S K. Dutta at the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Orissa.Worked in the project titled “Multi-centric study on Determination of loss of iodine in different type ofcooking process” inRegional Medical Research Centre (Indian Council of Medical Research), Bhubaneswar. I carried out extensive fieldwork and collection of samples in eastern and northeastern states of India, under the guidance of Dr G. Bulliya.
