Prof. NV Joshi

Prof. NV Joshi has been with CES from the early days of its establishment. He is a mathematical ecologist and it is thanks to him and his outstanding teaching abilities that CES has built a firm foundation and a reputation for rigorous quantitative and mathematical ecology that it now carries forward. He has collaborated extensively with ecologists within and outside the department on a large number of projects. His courses on statistics and population ecology have always been rated by CES students as one of the best courses they ever took. He has helped generations of students build a firm foundation in quantitative ecology and guided many through data analyses and interpretation in the course of their PhDs. More recently, he has been teaching basic statistics to biology students of the Integrated PhD program. We thank him for his invaluable contributions and wish him a long and happy retired life.

Mr. N. Murugeshachar

Mr. N. Murugeshachar has been with the Centre for Ecological Sciences since its inception, working in the first couple of decades with Profs. Gadagkar and Gadgil, and then with the CES office. He has been an indispensable member of CES over several decades, helping out with a multitude of organisational and administrative tasks. His exceptional dedication and enthusiasm for work, ever-smiling face and his desire and ability to carry out every task perfectly is deeply appreciated, and will be remembered by all of us at CES. He will be greatly missed and is hard to replace. We wish him a long and happy retired life.
