Many labs study the ecology of natural populations and this research requires a considerable amount of time to be spent in the field collecting data on the system being studied. To facilitate researchers, permanent field stations have been set up in or close to the following four locations:

1. Mudumalai (Tamil Nadu)
2. Rushikulya (Orissa)
3. Kudremukh (Karnataka)
4. Lakshadweep

2. Computers for uploading and backing up data
3. Internet connection
4. Refrigerators for storing biological samples
5. Weather station
6. Desiccators for drying samples
7. Kitchen
