Biography:

My research interests broadly include studying how animals make decisions when acquiring resources and how these decisions are influenced by social interactions. My current research work is on strategies that males adopt when acquiring mates in a lekking population of blackbuck. Prior to joining CES I completed a bachelors degree in industrial biotechnology from Centre for Biotechnology, Anna University, Chennai. During this time, I worked with an evolutionary ecologist at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) for my final semester project on the breeding system of an invasive weed, Lantana camara. This project though tangential to my degree was valuable in exposing me to working on questions in the broad field of evolutionary biology. Evolutionary biology, which started out as a fun topic to read about, largely in the form of popular science essays, turned out to be powerful enough fascination willing me to carry out PhD research in the field.
